How did you get into fishing?
Brett grew up in Manhattan Beach and moved to Santa Barbara ten years ago. He got into fishing for fun about 25-30 years ago, learning the ropes from a more experienced fisherman, and is now in his second season of commercial fishing.

How have you connected with the community?
Brett has met a lot of great people in the fishing industry, both professional connections and new friends. He has found a passion in the local fishing community and local restaurants they connect with.

What is your favorite part about your fishing?
For Brett, the best part about fishing is being outdoors and getting to be his own boss. He says that loves the rush he gets hunting for fish!

What are your hobbies outside of fishing?
When he isn’t on the water, Brett loves hanging out with his family, surfing, hiking in the mountains, and spending time outdoors in general.

Brett’s advice:
“If you want to do something well, find people who are better than you at it and do it with them.”

How do you cook what you catch?
Brett says his favorite way to cook Seabass and Halibut is to simply grill it with salt, pepper, garlic, and a little butter.
